The comedian, one of game's most passionate celebrity golfers who two years ago made the news when he was arrested for driving a golf car in central Stockholm in an inebriated condition, was playing the 9th hole at the TPC of Tampa Bay in Florida on Friday when he hooked his tee shot over a road and into the garden of the Gail DiMaggio and knocked her to the ground.

He was playing in a fourball with Hal Sutton, Jeff Sluman and Fred Paglia when he learned of the incident through an tournament official who approached him in a NBC golf cart.

"I wasn't sure I was in bounds or not," Murray said, "when I saw this golf cart coming towards me and this guys says: 'I hate to be the one to tell you this, but you hit a lady. She's down on the ground.'

Murray's caddy rushed him in the golf car to the woman's yard, where he found paramedics attending to her prior to her being sent to hospital..

"Ironically, she was overjoyed when she saw me, because she said she had come out to see me and her husband had just said, 'I hope he hits it over here,' Murray told reporters after signing his second round scorecard.
